As expected, the Cincinnati Bengals had a loaded injury report on Wednesday.
Among the various players battling injuries include Vincent Rey (mouth), George Iloka (Shoulder), Vontaze Burfict (concussion), Dre Kirkpatrick (concussion), Cedric Ogbuehi (shoulder), Joe Mixon (concussion), Nick Vigil (ankle) and Jordan Evans (forearm).
As it turned out, the Bengals had Mixon, Iloka, Kirkpatrick and Rey for Wednesday’s practice. Head coach Marvin Lewis did say that Mixon is still in the NFL's concussion protocol, so there’s no certainty he plays this week. However, Mixon was a full participant Wednesday, so he’s on track to play Sunday.
Burfict was still out Wednesday while recovering from a concussion suffered in Week 13. He’s had concussions in 2014 and 2016, so the Bengals may be playing it safe and holding him out for this week to ensure he fully recovers from this latest concussion.
H-back Ryan Hewitt was a new addition to the injury report with a knee injury. He did not practice Wednesday.
Andre Smith has been placed on injured reserve due to his knee injury. Cedric Ogbuehi sat out Wednesday with a shoulder injury.
As for the Detroit Lions, they are pretty healthy going into this matchup. Offensive lineman T.J. Lang (foot) and Travis Swanson (concussion) did miss practice. That’s two starters, so this is something to watch as they face a Bengals defensive line featuring Geno Atkins, Carl Lawson and Carlos Dunlap.
Starting tackle Ricky Wagner was limited with an ankle injury. Veteran pass-rusher Dwight Freeney was given a veteran’s rest day off Wednesday.
