Joe Mixon suffers ankle injury vs Lions

Joe Mixon suffers an ankle injury after missing two games with a concussion.

NFL: Detroit Lions at Cincinnati Bengals David Kohl-USA TODAY Sports

Just as the Cincinnati Bengals get Joe Mixon back, they may have already lost him again.

Early in the Bengals’ Week 16 game versus the Detroit Lions, Mixon suffered an ankle injury. It happened on a catch and run across the middle of the field, but as he was being tackled, his ankle bent awkwardly.

Mixon got up gingelry and walked to the sideline under his own power. After being examined by trainers, Mixon’s return was announced as questionable.

This is the last thing Cincinnati needs, as Mixon had become the only reliable option in this offense. He’s back after missing two games due to a concussion suffered in Week 16.

If Mixon is out for the rest of the game, the Bengals will rely heavily on Giovani Bernard, while Brian Hill will also see playing time. Fourth-string running back Jarveon Williams is a healthy scratch for this game.

We will update this post if any more details come out...
