Clayton Fejedelem suffers calf injury vs Lions

The Bengals’ defense can’t catch a break on the injury front.

The Cincinnati Bengals have lost yet another defense.

This time, it was safety Clayton Fejedelem, who suffered a right calf injury against the Detroit Lions. It happened in the fourth quarter, and the team quickly announced his return as doubtful.

Making this injury worse for the Bengals is they had already lost starting safety Shawn Williams to a possible concussion. That thrust Fejedelem into a starting role briefly in this game. The second-year safety has actually started several games this year in place of Williams and George Iloka.

If Fejedelem is out for the rest of this game, the Bengals will be down to Iloka and Josh Shaw as the starting safeties. Backup defensive back Brandon WIlson figures to be the next man up if either Shaw or Iloka go down. And if they’re both out for Week 17, the Bengals will need to sign another safety this week.

We will update this post if any more details become available...
