The Bengals won a game that just about nobody expected them to win.
Yay?
Some Bengals fans are happy about the team’s 24-17 win over the Lions but many are not as the win did nothing to actually help the Bengals. Well, other than make some players happy who were playing for pride.
Yay!
The Bengals are now 6-9 heading into the final game of the year against the Ravens. The game, which will be played in Baltimore, has significance for the Ravens as they need a win to make the playoffs. It has significance for the Bengals in totally different ways as it’s likely to be Marvin Lewis’ final game as head coach of the Bengals.
But before we shift focus to the final week of the 2017 season, let’s round up the reactions to the Bengals’ Week 16 win over the Lions, the team’s final home game of the year.
Congratulations go out to Giovani Bernard on a great game (116 rushing yards and 1 TD and 52 receiving yards) and to Carl Lawson for notching another sack in the closing minutes of the game (8.5 sacks this year). William Jackson also played well and hopefully is OK after appearing hurt in the final moments of the matchup.

Sorry to my Lions guys. This result helps nobody, even if satisfying to win.

Heard one fan yell "we love you Marvin!" as coach walked off the field. Left to cheering in the tunnel as he exited.

Remember when Gio had to sit on the sideline while Jeremy Hill got loads of carries.

Can only get as high as 7th overall now.

Thanks for messing up the draft position and playing hard when it doesn't matter fellas!

The Bengals have spent 15 games misunderstanding their running back talent.

We actually played well. Delighted for Gio, he was excellent.

Marvin Lewis won his final home game in Cincinnati. #Bengals @FOX19 pic.twitter.com/GvXt4TV0no
Lions were soft all game. From the 1st drive they couldn't handle the bengals physicality. That burfict hit on Stafford was the play o.t.g.

Gio looked GREAT during training camp. So did Mixon. They still haven’t found a way to use both of them at the same time https://t.co/DgCHRZB1nk

It's a Christmas miracle!

Gio Bernard is the man. Forever.

Marv: nice to win a war of attrition

Cedric Ogbuehi and Andre Smith are out and the #Bengals are having their best game running the ball this year with a make-shift o-line. Coincidence?
— Rebecca Toback (@Rebecca_Toback) December 24, 2017
To all the Lions fans who I told not to fear the Bengals, I'm sorry.
— Rebecca Toback (@Rebecca_Toback) December 24, 2017
Marvin Lewis asked about his emotions (implying this could be his final home game): "Emotional...why? You know something I don't?"
— Joe Danneman (@FOX19Joe) December 24, 2017
Boling at tackle is a promising development

Not glossing over the fact that Dalton did not play well today, just think there's reasons to be optimistic about some of these young players

The @Lions are not dey.
