After the latest round of Bengals vs Steelers, all I can say is “I hate this rivalry.”
Beyond that, I’m pretty much at a loss for words.
Many of you weren’t though as Bengals fans took to Twitter following the 23-20 loss to the Steelers to express their thoughts. Many of those thoughts included “fire Marvin Lewis.” Other thoughts included starting AJ McCarron, noting how terrible the game was and pondering what’s next in Cincinnati.
As for what’s immediately next, Vontaze Burfict is hurt and had to be carted off the field. Joe Mixon is in the concussion protocol. Other players got banged up and will likely be sidelined during practice in this short week ahead. The Bengals play the Bears on Sunday at home.
It hardly matters though as the Bengals are now 5-7 with four games remaining this season. This loss pretty much sealed the Bengals’ fate as it’s beyond unlikely that they’ll be in the postseason this year.
Here’s a collection of media, fan and player reactions on social media following the loss.
“You never want to have plays that injury anybody... it’s disappointing.. but this is a physical game... you can’t have any of the cheap stuff”- Andy Dalton

Green also said he should have caught a ball in the fourth quarter and said he had two drops overall that hurt the offense. #Bengals

First Half: Who are these Bengals?!?

Second Half: Same old Bengals.
I wonder if Gio's bogus hold on the A.J. Green TD had any impact on this game. Probably not.

Marvin Lewis has completely wasted the prime years of AJ Green, Dunlap, Geno, Burfict, Dalton, Gio just like he did with Ocho, Whitworth, Palmer, Joseph & Hall.

This has to be a gut wrenching loss for the players. Hard to come back from that.

Tonight in Cincinnati a lot of truly terrible things happened. One NFL team scored more than the other, but nobody “won.”#steelers #bengals

Predictable unfortunately, can't hold a lead, don't make positive adjustments in 2nd halves, could write a book on mistakes in that 2nd half. Missed tackles, stupid penalties, dropped passes, need a new head coach, it's a psychological thing

Can’t help but think that “holding” call on Bernard took 4 points off the board, and the Bengals ended up losing by 3#MNF #PITvsCIN

Will Jackson on JuJu hit: if that was Tez they woulda kicked him out. They should have kicked him out. It was dirty hit. #Bengals

He can't do it all. He could've had 200 yards and 4 TDs this game. It should've never come down to the 4th QTR https://t.co/VmNB1wl7NN

We need new voices. Bengals keep doing the same stuff and losing in the same way time after time. Time to move on
