The Cincinnati Bengals had an eye-opening nine players miss practice Wednesday as they prepare to host the Chicago Bears.
The most notable name out was John Ross, who has a shoulder injury that is unrelated to the one he had surgery on this offseason. However, the new shoulder issue will also require surgery, which is why Ross has since been placed on injured reserve.
Among the other Bengals sitting out were Vontaze Burfict (concussion), Adam Jones (groin), Dre Kirkpatrick (concussion), Nick Vigil (ankle), Shawn Williams (hamstring), Darqueze Dennard (knee) and Joe Mixon (concussion).
It’s hard to see any of the players with concussions being able to play this week. Joe Mixon would be the biggest loss, as evidenced by the Bengals being outscored 20-3 in the second half with Mixon out of the game.
Of all the players sitting out, Dennard seems like he would have the best shot, being that his knee issued temporarily forced him from Monday’s loss to Pittsburgh, but he returned to finish the game.
