The running backs and offensive lineman are finished at the 2017 NFL Combine and were sent home on Friday night.
The fastest running backs at the Combine in the 40-yard dash were T.J. Logan out of North Carolina (4.37 seconds), Joe Williams from Utah (4.41 seconds), Tarik Cohen, out of North Carolina A&T (4.42 seconds), Christian McCaffrey out of Stanford, De'Angelo Henderson out of Coastal Carolina, and Donnel Pumphrey of San Diego State. The final three on that list all recorded a 4.48 second 40-time.
As for the anticipated top two running backs in the draft, Leonard Fournette ran a 4.51 40-time while Dalvin Cook recorded a 4.49 time. Overall, Cook was more impressive with his measurables as Fournette’s 28.5" vertical jump was among the worst of all running backs. Fournette also opted to skip the bench press and broad jump. Regardless, Fournette’s skills and film should far outweigh his lacking vertical jump ability.
As for the offensive lineman, four prospects benched more than 30 reps. Isaac Asiata out of Utah led the group with 35 reps while Forrest Lamp out of Western Kentucky, Jermaine Eluemunor from Texas A&M and Aviante Collins out of TCU had 34 each. As for the fastest offensive lineman in the 40-yard dash, that honor goes to Collins, who had a great day on Friday.
