Bengals and players around the NFL react to Brandon LaFell’s contract extension

Andrew Whitworth, Tyler Kroft and plenty of LaFell’s former teammates reached out to the Bengals wide receiver after hearing the news.

Brandon LaFell is a popular man in the NFL. A 2010 Carolina Panthers third round draft pick and 2014 Super Bowl winner with the New England Patriots, LaFell signed a bargain deal with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2016 and had a bounce-back season after a poor 2015 campaign.

LaFell did well enough in his first year in Cincinnati to warrant a $10 million, two-year contract extension, to remain with the Bengals through the 2018 season.

When the news of that extension broke on Wednesday afternoon, many of LaFell’s teammates (past and present) as well as friends around the NFL gave him a shoutout to acknowledge the news. Bengals including Andrew Whitworth, Tyler Kroft and Marcus Hardison were among those to reach out via social media. And, LaFell’s Super Bowl teammates Devin McCourty, James White, Darius Slay and Jamie Collins shared public messages of acknowledgement, too.

Here’s a look at the reaction to LaFell’s deal from his friends and teammates.
