When you play football at Alabama, you’re on a pretty big stage. That’s even true when you’re a kicker. Alabama’s primary kicker for the last three years, Adam Griffith is hoping to catch on with an NFL team this spring. He’s unlikely to be drafted, but, his agent’s phone should ring after the draft with teams on the other end interested in adding him to their competition this summer.

Griffith holds a number of Alabama records including being the all-time career leader for PATs (186). He also ranks fifth on Alabama's career field goals list with 57 field goals made during his time in Tuscaloosa.

Important Notes:

  • Grew up in a Polish orphanage as Andrzej Debowski before being adopted by American parents and moving to the United States at the age of 13, taking the name of Adam Griffith.
  • Was on the Lou Groza Award Preseason Watch List.
  • Completed his Alabama career with a perfect kicking night in the College Football Playoff championship game. He finished 4-for-4 on PATs and made his lone field goal attempt (27-yard field goal). He kicked off six times for 351 yards to average 58.5 yards per kickoff in the game.

Scouting Report Consensus - What to like:

  • Improved his field goal accuracy every season.
  • Alabama’s all-time career leader for PATs with 186.
  • Ranks fifth on the Alabama career list with 57 made field goals.
  • Led the Tide with 129 points after going 66-of-67 on PATs and 21-of-28 on field goals.

Scouting Report Consensus - What to not like:

  • Career average below 70% on field goals, and never had a season with better than 75% accuracy on field goals.

Conclusion:

Griffith could possibly join many of his fellow former members of the Alabama Crimson Tide who find themselves in an NFL training camp in a few months. His upside is likely a “camp body” to save the team’s starting kicker. It would make no sense for the Bengals to sign him after the draft, as the team is supposedly going to have a competition for the kicker position, and he would be taking away repetitions from the competitors. His best fit would be with a team who has an established starter and his best case scenario in his rookie year would be on a practice squad.
