In the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals selected Auburn defensive end Carl Lawson.
Lawson is the second straight defensive end the Bengals have selected and the second straight great value pick. Lawson reportedly slid down draft boards due to some injury concerns as he tore his ACL in 2014 and had a hip injury in 2015.
Lawson is well known by many in Who Dey Nation. For starters, he was college teammates with Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah from 2013 to 2014 and also knows both Willie Anderson and Takeo Spikes, both of whom he has spent time training with.
Anderson seems VERY excited about the pick and even Tweeted last night that the Bengals should select him today.
Here are the social media reactions to Lawson’s selection by the Bengals.
@carllawson55 will give you @TakeoSpikes51 like intensity and effort. Team Leader at @AuburnFootball . Loves to work and play football

The #Bengals get a steal in Carl Lawson, who posted an elite #RAS in Indi. Can he stay healthy, though? #NFLDraft pic.twitter.com/BF7iFiZ4dc

Lawson missed all of 2014 due to ACL injury, half of 2015 with hip injury. Was a team captain last year. #Bengals

@JamesRapien Lawson my favorite pick. Great value. I think he'll do very well.

Carl Lawson says as long as he rushes off the edge, he’s good with wherever he lines up (hand on the ground, standing up, etc.) #Bengals

@andreperrotta13 Willis was a LE in my eval, I think he'll develop well there. He ain't shooting any A-gaps with a hand in the ground at 255.

I think this makes sense. Both are stiff with some power. Lawson more experience at RDE. https://t.co/yzlaAU8x25
