The Cincinnati Bengals selected former Utah center/right tackle J.J. Dielman in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Due to a Lisfranc injury suffered during his senior season in college, he was unable to practice in rookie minicamp and OTAs. That’s kept the spotlight off the rookie offensive lineman who will make a push to make an impact among a crowded, yet inexperienced, Bengals offensive line unit.
We spoke with J.J. to learn about some of his favorite things, including music, food and entertainment. Here’s what we learned!
Favorite food: Chicken Tenders
(Editor’s note: He hasn’t found a great spot for chicken tenders yet in Cincinnati; suggestions are welcome!)
Favorite movie: That’s a tough question. I’m a movie guy. I’ll say Star Wars.
Favorite TV show: Game of Thrones

Favorite Sport: I’m a fan of all sports. I like going to baseball games and I’m a Detroit Tigers fan.
Favorite College Stadium: Gotta be my own, Rice-Eccles Stadium!
Favorite singer: Darius Rucker
Favorite Cincinnati restaurant: Skyline. I’ve been there a few times and I’m a huge fan. It definitely doesn’t look the most appetizing but it’s delicious. I hadn’t had it before I got to Cincinnati. I didn’t even know it was a thing, but everyone from the Midwest said I had to try it.
Favorite NFL player: My favorite was my cousin, Kris Dielman, who played in the league for nine years. He was a left guard for the Chargers.
(Editor’s note: Kris was a four-time Pro Bowler, two-time second team All-Pro and member of the Chargers 50th Anniversary Team. We can only hope J.J. turns into such a success with the Bengals.)
Look out for more from our conversation with J.J. later this week!
