This weekend, I was lucky enough to have a random Sunday available to check out Cincinnati Bengals training camp. Well, it should’ve been a day spent on a motorcycle ride through the hills with my wife, but I’m a better Bengals fan than I am a mechanic, so...
Below are just a few of my favorites that I was lucky enough to capture. Aside from the photos, I left the practice field feeling extremely hopeful for this season. In year’s past, I’d overhear too much cynicism, and negativity while at camp. I didn’t hear any of that on Sunday, with many fans looking forward to the season and only acting slightly concerned about the play on the offensive line.
I was impressed by how effortless John Ross can run. I think he’s going to make Who Dey Nation wonder why we didn’t look for that kind of speed sooner (not that it was available, considering he has the fastest 40-yard dash time recorded at the NFL Combine.)
Joe Mixon’s feet and balance are amazing! I’m looking forward to watching the first defender tackle the air in the open field while Mixon scores on a long run.
Carl Lawson made a move around a dummy that froze my trigger finger--I would’ve had the perfect shot, but missed it as he turner the corner without losing speed, dropping his hips and using a hand to balance right before exploding back in the other direction.
Of course, not many Bengals defenders had fun covering A.J. Green, and Andy Dalton continues to look polished throwing to his favorite target, and really everyone else on the field. Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill looked as good, if not better, than any other day of camp I’ve seen in past years. Finally, I was happy to see head coach Marvin Lewis getting mad enough that the entire crowd heard him chastise some poor play.
