Bengals training camp Day 5: Highlights, videos and pictures from a high-intensity practice

It was a high-pressure day at Bengals training camp as a number of skirmishes broke out.

Before receiving a much-needed off day on Wednesday, the Cincinnati Bengals were back in full pads for Tuesday’s practice, which was closed to the public, save for season ticket holders and the media.

Michael Johnson remained sidelined on Tuesday, making it four days in a row that the defensive end has missed practiced.

AJ McCarron, who missed practice on Monday due to a family emergency, was back on Tuesday.

While the public was not allowed to attend today’s practice (other than season ticket holders) this pizza mascot was.

Wide receiver Chris Brown, offensive lineman T.J. Johnson and cornerback Tony McRae got dinged up during Monday’s practice and sat out on Tuesday. Additionally, wide receiver Jake Kumerow is battling back from an ankle injury and didn’t practice again on Tuesday. On the bright side, Giovani Bernard was back after getting a rest day on Monday as part of his return from ACL surgery.

On the rehab field on Tuesday were safety Brandon Wilson and running back Cedric Peerman, both of whom are on the Non-Football Injury list and cannot practice with the team until they are medically cleared to do so.

The Bengals’ offensive tackles put in work with offensive line coach Paul Alexander on Tuesday.

The wide receivers are always one of the most fun parts of camp. Here’s A.J. Green and Alonzo Russell:

And here’s a look at Brandon LaFell, Tyler Boyd and John Ross:

More wide receiver drills:

Two players in interesting situations this offseason, here are Andre Smith and Will Clarke battling each other:

Vontaze Burfict got a talking to by running backs coach Kyle Caskey after he tackled Bernard near his recently surgically repaired knee. It ended up turning into a bigger thing than Burfict likely anticipated, but, it was an odd and stupid move by #55. Tyler Eifert came to Bernard’s defense and reportedly had a good talking to with Burfict on the sidelines after the incident. The whole team ended up in a shoving match as a result and all in all, this is a bad and strange look from Bengals training camp.

Carl Lawson is getting some serious buzz as a playmaker in training camp.

Hopefully the Andy Dalton to Eifert connection is back in full effect in 2017!

Geno Atkins with what would have been a tackle for loss:

Burfict was apparently still annoyed with Eifert after the Bernard-related exchange.

Brandon LaFell (maybe surprisingly) has been one of the stars of training camp.

McCarron has reportedly been shaky through training camp, but this was a nice throw to wide receiver Kermit Whitfield, who joined the team earlier this week.

Joe Mixon had to do 10 pushups after dropping a pass during practice.

Dalton to Green always works...

It sounds like Eifert was in a rough and tough mood on Tuesday.

As was much of the team.

At the end of the day, these guys are friends and teammates and it seems like all is good between Bernard and Burfict.

The team has Wednesday off, which it sounds like comes at a good time.
