Before receiving a much-needed off day on Wednesday, the Cincinnati Bengals were back in full pads for Tuesday’s practice, which was closed to the public, save for season ticket holders and the media.
Michael Johnson remained sidelined on Tuesday, making it four days in a row that the defensive end has missed practiced.
AJ McCarron, who missed practice on Monday due to a family emergency, was back on Tuesday.
While the public was not allowed to attend today’s practice (other than season ticket holders) this pizza mascot was.
Wide receiver Chris Brown, offensive lineman T.J. Johnson and cornerback Tony McRae got dinged up during Monday’s practice and sat out on Tuesday. Additionally, wide receiver Jake Kumerow is battling back from an ankle injury and didn’t practice again on Tuesday. On the bright side, Giovani Bernard was back after getting a rest day on Monday as part of his return from ACL surgery.
On the rehab field on Tuesday were safety Brandon Wilson and running back Cedric Peerman, both of whom are on the Non-Football Injury list and cannot practice with the team until they are medically cleared to do so.

The Bengals’ offensive tackles put in work with offensive line coach Paul Alexander on Tuesday.
The wide receivers are always one of the most fun parts of camp. Here’s A.J. Green and Alonzo Russell:
And here’s a look at Brandon LaFell, Tyler Boyd and John Ross:

Two players in interesting situations this offseason, here are Andre Smith and Will Clarke battling each other:
Vontaze Burfict got a talking to by running backs coach Kyle Caskey after he tackled Bernard near his recently surgically repaired knee. It ended up turning into a bigger thing than Burfict likely anticipated, but, it was an odd and stupid move by #55. Tyler Eifert came to Bernard’s defense and reportedly had a good talking to with Burfict on the sidelines after the incident. The whole team ended up in a shoving match as a result and all in all, this is a bad and strange look from Bengals training camp.

First play in contact for Giovani Bernard and Vontaze Burfict dives in right at his knees. As you can imagine a huge shoving match ensued.— Paul Dehner Jr. (@pauldehnerjr) August 1, 2017
Giovani Bernard got tackled by Burfict and it led to a scrum. Players weren't tackling. Gio was okay. It was ignorant move by Burfict. pic.twitter.com/Biq6A2yBe1— James Rapien (@JamesRapien) August 1, 2017
Caskey to Burfict: "stay off his legs," and understandably so with Gio coming off knee surgery. Eifert saying something to Burfict on side.— Richard Skinner (@Local12Skinny) August 1, 2017
2 plays later, Marvin yells again "Keep the back off the ground!"— Jay Morrison (@JayMorrisonCMG) August 1, 2017
Probably not the best thing to actually tackle a teammate - regardless of where it occurred.— Jim Owczarski (@JimOwczarski) August 1, 2017
Eifert and Burfict had words following the tackle/scrum. pic.twitter.com/9GZAJNVO8y— James Rapien (@JamesRapien) August 1, 2017
The whole point of camp at this moment is to get everyone through healthy. That means they want players upright. Coaches were rightly angry— Katherine Terrell (@Kat_Terrell) August 1, 2017
Carl Lawson is getting some serious buzz as a playmaker in training camp.
Hopefully the Andy Dalton to Eifert connection is back in full effect in 2017!
Great use of motion with Eifert to cause enough shift in the defense for a favorable 3rd down matchup based on leverage for a completion pic.twitter.com/c34OAHkQAA— Tony Pike (@TPike16) August 1, 2017
Geno Atkins with what would have been a tackle for loss:
Burfict was apparently still annoyed with Eifert after the Bernard-related exchange.
After this play Burfict walked onto the field and yelled "Better catch that sh*t" to Eifert. They had words earlier (see previous tweets). pic.twitter.com/KPw5hukVuQ— James Rapien (@JamesRapien) August 1, 2017
Brandon LaFell (maybe surprisingly) has been one of the stars of training camp.
Brandon LaFell just destroyed Dre Kirkpatrick on a double move for a TD in 7-on-7.— James Rapien (@JamesRapien) August 1, 2017
McCarron has reportedly been shaky through training camp, but this was a nice throw to wide receiver Kermit Whitfield, who joined the team earlier this week.
Joe Mixon had to do 10 pushups after dropping a pass during practice.
Dalton to Green always works...
It sounds like Eifert was in a rough and tough mood on Tuesday.
Now a shoving match between Tyler Eifert and Shawn Williams sets off a mini-scuffle. Second of day. These guys could use day off tomorrow.— Paul Dehner Jr. (@pauldehnerjr) August 1, 2017
Camp scuffle round II of the day: Eifert vs. Shawn Williams. Lots of shoving, several players got involved to break it up. #Bengals— Joe Danneman (@FOX19Joe) August 1, 2017
As was much of the team.
At the end of the day, these guys are friends and teammates and it seems like all is good between Bernard and Burfict.
Fences mended. Gio and Burfict laughing it up on sideline during onside kick drill. #Bengals— Jay Morrison (@JayMorrisonCMG) August 1, 2017
