The Cincinnati Bengals open their 2017 preseason schedule Friday night at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The first preseason game will see some, but not all starters get limited snaps. However, the preseason is all about the backups and roster bubble guys, not so much the starters.
That means there will be a tons of players on the field with whom not everyone is super familiar. We know a lot of the big names and numbers, (hello #18, A.J. Green and welcome #15, John Ross and guess who’s back—#85, Tyler Eifert) but there are plenty of players we’ll barely recognize, if we recognize them at all.
Andrew Whitworth and Domata Peko are gone, as is Rey Maualuga, so some long-time roster mainstays have been replaced and there are tons of young guys who have never before played a game in Bengals stripes who will be suiting up on Friday.
So, to make things easier as you watch on Friday, below is a sortable roster. You can sort by jersey number, name, and position. That way, when the starters depart the game (which will happen early on), you can sort through this chart to figure out who is coming in the game and who is making plays.
