Cincinnati Bengals first year running back Tra Carson suffered an ankle injury during practice on Monday.
Carson, one of the stars of the Bengals’ preseason opener, was facing an uphill but determined battle to make the team’s 53-man roster this year after spending all of 2016 on the practice squad.

Tra Carson must have tweaked something. He's sitting in the cart with his left ankle wrapped in ice.

Carson’s roster chances took a bit of a plunge earlier in the day when running back and special teams ace Cedric Peerman was removed from the Non-Football Injury list after starting training camp there due to a hamstring injury.
Peerman is a favorite of the coaching staff due to his experience and skills on special teams where he’s been a Pro Bowler and captain for the Bengals.
Hopefully this injury isn’t serious as Carson needs to continue making a positive impression on the coaching staff to reserve his place on the roster this year. On Friday night, Carson recorded eight carries for 32 yards and one catch for 23 yards in the preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bengals next take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. ET at Paul Brown Stadium.
