Cincinnati Bengals linebacker P.J. Dawson is out of practice today while dealing with an apparent arm injury.
P.J. Dawson not practicing today for #Bengals has arm in sling and possibly wearing cast of some kind @Local12

Not much is known of the specifics on his injury, but being in a cast is mildly concerning for the 2015 third round pick. Hopefully the injury isn’t too serious, but it’s not a good sign for him to be in a cast.
Dawson nearly shockingly spent last season on the team’s practice squad after making the roster in his rookie year. He is now part of a heated competition for the back up positions at outside linebacker, which also includes fourth year linebacker Marquis Flowers.
The Bengals also drafted two linebackers in this years draft in Jordan Evans and Carl Lawson. Lawson has already wowed plenty of coaches and fans at training camp with his pass rushing ability. He’s a lock to make the roster and certainly higher than Dawson on the current (theoretical) depth chart.
The more time Dawson spends off-the-field, the further he could fall behind the players with whom he is competing. Dawson’s career has already been off to a shaky start, partly due to his work ethic, which has been described as less-than-stellar.
Hopefully, Dawson has a quick recovery and is back on the field sooner than later.
