After one of Andy Dalton’s worst-ever games, the Cincinnati Bengals elected to not have their starting quarterback serve as a captain for the team’s Week 2 matchup with the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football.
A.J. Green wasn’t named a captain either.
Instead, the Bengals went with Giovani Bernard and Brandon LaFell on offense, George Iloka and Carlos Dunlap on defense and Derron Smith for special teams.

Woh.
That seems weird.
All of the players are deserving, especially on defense, but this is just a very different looking group of captains for the Bengals.
The Bengals opted to not name season-long captains this year and are going week to week as of now.
We’ll see if that sticks as the NFL schedule continues.
