The moment we’ve all been waiting for is fast approaching. Cincinnati Bengals football returns on Sunday afternoon as the Baltimore Ravens come to Paul Brown Stadium for the first home opener of the Andy Dalton and A.J. Green era in Cincinnati.
The Bengals ended the 2016 season with a win against the Ravens and that’s hopefully how they’ll start the 2017 season, too.
The Bengals will be missing some key faces as linebacker Vontaze Burfict (who just received a massive contract extension) and cornerback Adam Jones are serving suspensions to open the year. Starting safety Shawn Williams will also miss the game due to a dislocated elbow. Two members of the Bengals’ offense, first round rookie receiver John Ross and third year tight end C.J. Uzomah are also expected to miss the game with knee and ankle sprains respectively.
For the Ravens, quarterback Joe Flacco is fresh off a back injury that kept him out of training camp and the preseason. Cornerback Jaylen Hill has missed practices this week with a thigh injury and cornerback Sheldon Price is recovering from a concussion.
Dalton has 11 career games against Baltimore, with a 6-5 record. He is 233-for-402 passing (58.0 percent) for 2,918 yards (265.3 yards per game), with 12 touchdowns and (77.1 rating) against the Ravens. Dalton’s best game statistically against the Ravens was a 2015 comeback win at Baltimore when he passed for a career-high 383 yards and a 122.3 rating.
