The Cincinnati Bengals won’t be rushing to make a decision on Marvin Lewis.
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Lewis and owner Mike Brown met Monday morning, but no decision was made regarding the future of Lewis. NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo has since confirmed the report.
That would suggest the Bengals are seriously considering another year of Lewis. It seemed inevitable that he was on his way out, by his own volition or by the Bengals telling him to go, but now, there’s a very real possibility he is head coach of the Bengals in 2018.
Some things never change, but given the history of Brown as owner of the Bengals, it shouldn’t be a surprise at all if Lewis is brought back.
Whatever the ultimate decision is, it ideally will be made this week. The Bengals need time to get Lewis and his staff re-signed with many of them having their contracts now expired, including Lewis.
