The Bengals and Marvin Lewis continue to drag their feet regarding his future in Cincinnati.

According to WCPO reporter Keenan Singleton, a decision on Lewis won’t be reached on Tuesday, so this will go on for at least another day.

This really sounds like a situation where Mike Brown has effectively decided he wants to keep Lewis, and now all that’s left to do is iron out the details. Lewis does appear to be pretty dug into getting whatever changes he’s asking for, so there’s still a chance this falls apart and Lewis ends up elsewhere.

But if we’ve learned anything from Brown, don’t expect changes to happen until they do, if ever. Expect Lewis to be coaching the Bengals in 2018 until we’re all told otherwise.

The only hope for Bengals fans wanting to see change is that one of the sticking points for Lewis is likely a multi-year contract extension. That may be something Brown is unwilling to give after another losing season, so perhaps this comes down to whether or not Lewis is willing to settle for another one-year prove it deal.
