It is official.
The Bengals have given Marvin Lewis a two-year extension. In what seemed like the season Mike Brown would’ve been finally fed up with Lewis after two losing seasons in a row, but he ultimately decided that Lewis is the best man for the job.
It seems like the final two games may have saved Lewis. It feels like it would’ve been impossible for him to return if he got swept by the Steelers and the Ravens. The Win against the Lions also looked really good.
Still the two losses to the Steelers were embarrassing, and Lewis has historically struggled against them. Not only that but they lost so many close games, and barely beat terrible teams. Not to mention their habit of giving up leads in the second half consistently this year.
There was also the trend of young players stepping in and out playing veterans who were starting ahead of them. Lewis was also reluctant to play the Bengals first round pick from last season in John Ross.
Ross was benched after a fumble in Week 2 that wasn’t even really his fault. It was a great play by the defender. Lewis sat him in that game when they already made Tyler Boyd a healthy scratch. The Bengals ultimately lost 13-9.
With all of that said, how do you feel about two more years of Marvin Lewis?
