Update 2: In his Monday morning press conference following the Bengals’ win over the Buccaneers, Marvin Lewis said Clint Boling will be fine following the bye week.

“He will be fine,” Lewis said when asked if Boling will be “good to go” for Week 10 against the Saints. “We have a long time for me to, ‘we’ll see,’ so that’s a big ‘we’ll see’. He’ll be fine. He had back spasms.”

Update: Clint Boling has been declared OUT of the game with a back injury. It’s Christian Westerman time. Additionally, Carl Lawson was ruled out with a knee injury.

The Bengals’ offensive line has been a major work in progress, and it may have just lost its best player.

Late in the first half of their game vs. the Buccaneers, left guard Clint Boling was forced from the game with a back injury. His return is currently listed as questionable to return.

When Boling left the game, backup Christian Westerman was inserted at left guard. The Bengals managed to score a touchdown after Andy Dalton hit A.J. Green to put the good guys up 27-6.

If Boling misses extended time, it looks like the Bengals will roll with Westerman, who has rarely seen the field over his first three years with the team.

The good news is the Bengals have their bye coming up, so Boling will have extra time to rest and recover before they host the Saints in Week 10.
