The Bengals have officially activated Vontaze Burfict to the 53-man roster and placed Tyler Eifert on season-ending injured reserve.
This was the move expected all along once Eifert suffered a broken ankle in the win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4, which came the day before Burfict was set to return from his four-game suspension due to a PED violation.
Burfict, a seventh-year veteran who returned to the team on a roster exemption on Monday after serving his suspension, will be eligible to play in Sunday’s game vs. the Miami Dolphins.
The Bengals have been in dire need of more help at linebacker, which they hope to get from their former Pro Bowl linebacker, who has missed much of the last two seasons due to injury and suspension.
As for Eifert, he is now slated to become a free agent in 2019 after signing a one-year deal with the Bengals this offseason.
