Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse — a survey of fans across the NFL. Each week, we send 32 polls to 100+ plugged in fans from each team. Bengals fans, sign up HERE to join FanPulse.

How confident are you in the direction of the team?

Last week: 21 percent
This week: 33 percent

Bengals fans are a little more confident in their team after a 37-34 win over the Buccaneers, but they’d certainly feel better if the team held on to win by double digits after leading by 21 at one point. That near-meltdown still has fans lacking confidence in where this franchise is heading.

Your confidence vs. actual results

This week, we took at look at how well Bengals fans have been at predicting wins/losses and by how much this year.

For the most part, Bengals fans have been correct in how they’ve expected games to play out. The only big outlier was Week 7. While Bengals fans expected a loss, they didn’t see a 35-point loss to the Chiefs coming.

Bengals fans were expecting close wins over the Panthers in Week 3 and the Steelers in Week 5, but those turned out to be painful losses that has led to a bit of a ‘what if’ vibe heading into the bye week.

The good news is Bengals fans weren’t very confident the team would win at Atlanta in Week 4, but a last-second thriller saw the Bengals steal a game they probably should have lost.

In reality, 5-3 is about where this team should be. As easily as they could be 6-3, they could also be 4-4 or even 3-5.

Let’s hope we’re in for another 5-3 or better stretch during the second half of the season.

Will the Bengals win or lose in Week 9?

Hopefully a win since they’re on a bye week ;)
