The Bengals lost to the Ravens 24-21 in a game that could provide a huge swing in momentum to the Wild Card race, as Cincinnati drops to 5-5 on the season.
The Bengals played better than the past few weeks, but when it counted most the Bengals opted to trust the game to wide receiver Cody Core, a decision that could haunt the team when the end of the season rolls around.
It still led to some pretty drastic reactions on social media. Here are some of the best:
We need A.J. Green back....

You can’t tell me there’s not a “gotta have it” play on that call sheet designed to get ball to Boyd or Mixon

Cut Cody and fire Marvin

Which could be considered a problem all its own at this point considering he is probably their most consistent offensive weapon when Green is out. https://t.co/mug6IINPu4

“Bengals fire Jim Haslett, Marvin Lewis to coach LBs”

Lamar Jackson had 27 carries for 117 yards today. His 27 carries were the most for a quarterback in an NFL game since 1950.

The Bengals had to win @ Baltimore or @ Cleveland, plus they had to handle business at home against Cleveland, Denver and Oakland to get to 9 wins and (probably) make the playoffs.

The margin for error is officially gone with today’s loss.

It’s like being in love, but never actually dating someone. For years its on and off, good times and bad times. Deep down you know it’s not healthy and it’s emotionally toxic, but you just can’t walk alway. See you next Sunday.

I get a kick out of Marvin saying it's a race now. What were the first 10 games? #Bengals

Only in Cincinnati could the word 'progress' be used for a defense that allowed the most rushing yards in the 16 year Marvin Lewis era. Just can't make this stuff up. #Bengal s

Every person saying “Fire Marvin Lewis”, how does that make this team better this year? Who are you going to have replaced him? Hue? Lazor? Bill is the person who made the play call to have Cody Core catch the football with the game on the line. #StopIt
