Bengals place DT Josh Tupou on IR, sign player off Broncos’ practice squad

More bad news for the Bengals.

The Bengals are adding to their injury list as defensive tackle Josh Tupou has been placed on the Reserve/Injured list. He suffered a torn pectoral in practice on Wednesday leading up to the Browns game on Sunday. Tupou’s season is now over.

In his place, the Bengals signed defensive tackle Niles Scott off the Denver Broncos’ practice squad.

Scott (6-3, 295; Frostburg State), a rookie, originally signed with the San Francisco 49ers as a college free agent earlier this year. He has spent time this season on the practice squads of both the 49ers and the Broncos.

Tupou, a second-year player, originally signed with the Bengals as a college free agent out of Colorado last season and played in one game as a rookie. He had played in six games this season and had nine tackles (six solo). This is an unfortunate addition to the injury list for the team as the defensive line keeps taking hits week after week. Adolphus Washington missed last week with an injury of his own and Carl Lawson and Ryan Glasgow are already on IR with ACL tears.

The Bengals also placed Preston Brown on IR this week with a season-ending knee injury.
