A.J. Green is back.
The Bengals receiver made it clear Wednesday that he’ll be suiting up this week when the Broncos come to Paul Brown Stadium.
A.J. Green says he will play Sunday against the Broncos. Said it won’t take long to develop chemistry with Jeff Driskel. “Just put the ball somewhere; I’ll get it,” Green said.

Green has missed the last three games while recovering from a toe injury. Unsurprisingly, the Bengals went 0-3 during that stretch and went from likely making the playoffs to now being on life support. Sunday is a must-win for the Bengals to keep their slim postseason hopes alive, so having Green is imperative to beating a Broncos team also in the playoff mix.
This is big news in more ways than one. The most obvious is this is a major boost to a Bengals offense that badly needs it with Andy Dalton now on injured reserve. If Jeff Driskel is going to lead this offense, he needs all of his weapons, and he’ll have Green this week.
This is also big because of how much success Green tends to have against Denver. He’s caught a touchdown in four of six meetings with Denver. One of the games he didn’t was in 2014 when he was injured early in the game.
Last year, Green only caught four passes for 50 yards at Denver, but his fourth-quarter touchdown proved to be the difference in a 20-17 Cincinnati win.
