Bengals WR A.J. Green undergoing surgery for injured toe

Green is expected to be sidelined for 3-4 months while recovering.

A.J. Green’s season is over, but the road to recovery is just getting started.

Green, who suffered a torn ligament in his toe, underwent surgery today to repair the damage, according to his wife on Instagram:

Green suffered a groin injury earlier this year that ultimately didn’t cost him any games. He later suffered a toe injury that sidelined him for three games before returning against the Broncos in Week 13, only to re-injure the same toe enough that he would later require surgery, which is expected to sideline him for 3-4 months.

In nine games this season Green caught 46 passes for 694 yards and six touchdowns, three of which came against the Ravens in Week 2. He’s now failed to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards in two of the past three seasons after hitting that mark in his first five seasons. A hamstring injury ended his 2016 prematurely.

Hopefully, Green comes back as good as ever in 2019 and doesn’t miss any offseason workouts.
