The Cincinnati Bengals have placed A.J. Green on injured reserve. In a corresponding move, the team activated cornerback Davontae Harris.
Green, an eighth-year player, suffered a toe injury in Game 8 vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and missed Games 9-11. He returned to play last week vs. the Denver Broncos, but reinjured the toe in the second quarter. He is now set to undergo surgery and miss the next 3-4 months while rehabbing.
Green racked up 46 receptions for 694 yards (15.1-yard average) and six touchdowns this season. This is the second time in the last three seasons in which Green will have not finished a season or gotten to 1,000 receiving yards.
Harris, a fifth-round rookie out of Illinois State, was placed on the Reserve/Injured list on Sept. 3 with a knee injury, and he had returned to practice when the Bengals designated him for return on Nov. 14. The Bengals need him now for extra depth with cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick battling an injury that could sideline him in Week 14.
