With the 252nd overall pick in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Bengals have selected Ole Miss Rebels offensive lineman Rod Taylor.
The Bengals finally grabbed another offensive lineman after not taking one since Round 1 in Ohio State center Billy Price.
This is the round where teams take developmental prospects, special teams contributors and sometimes practice squad bodies. Taylor was projected as a Round 7/priority free agent, so it looks like he falls in line with the developmental prospect line.
Taylor has bounced around the offensive line in his college career. He started every game at right tackle this past season after being Ole Miss’ left tackle in 2016. He started at right guard in his first two seasons, and some think he’ll be a guard in the NFL.
Taylor ended up being the only other lineman drafted other than Price, so you have to think there’s a decent shot Taylor makes the roster. He’s got experienced all over the line, which makes him more attractive as that seventh/eighth lineman.
