Carlos Dunlap hasn’t been shy about giving back during his time in the NFL, and it seems like he isn’t taking a break during the offseason either.
Dunlap, four other players and Rex Ryan are making a week long trip to tour military bases and visit U.S. troops and their families. Dunlap has shared some of the sights and memorable moments from the trip so far via his Instagram.
Of course this isn’t Dunlap’s first charitable activity. Last year during the season he was involved in a campaign to help tackle bullying. This involved having kids read a book on why bullying was bad, and then having a pizza party with the defensive end to discuss it.
This reached beyond Cincinnati as he made stops in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Baltimore and Jacksonville when the Bengals played those teams.
Dunlap was also named the Week 9 NFLPA Community MVP for his anti-bullying campaign. He was even nominated for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award. It is safe to say that Dunlap continues to cement himself as one of the best guys in the NFL.
The Bengals are reportedly planning on extending Dunlap’s contract this offseason to help prevent him from playing for another team, and it is things like this that really make you hope he manages to stay a Bengal for life.
Make sure you follow the rest of Dunlap’s trip on his Instagram. Knowing him, it will be as heart warming as it is entertaining.
