The Bengals are signing former Stony Brook defensive back Tyrice Beverette, sources have told Cincy Jungle. Beverette tried out for the team in rookie minicamp after going undrafted this year.
He also had a tryout with the Jets prior to signing with the Bengals. The Bengals have not made the signing official just yet, but the team will need to cut someone from the roster to make room for the 6’, 210 pound safety. The Bengals are currently at the 90 man roster limit.
PRO DAY: #NFL take note: Tyrice Beverette @StonyBrookFB now 100% healthy, timed 4.58 in the 40-yard dash, 36.5” vertical jump, 10-2 broad jump, 7.07 in the L-drill & 4.26 in the short shuttle, which would’ve placed 5th amongst all safeties invited to NFL Combine. #TeamParabolic pic.twitter.com/FFLn7XSun3— Parabolic (@GoParabolic) March 29, 2018
A former high school basketball player, Beverette was a three-year starter at Stony Brook where he earned Third Team All-CAA honors and recorded 96 tackles (10.5 for loss), 4.5 sacks and one forced fumble in 2017.
His 2016 season saw him named Second Team All-CAA after leading Stony Brook with 98 tackles (nine for loss), 4.5 sacks, four interceptions and four passes defended. In 2015, he received Third Team All-CAA honors for his 47 tackles (3.5 for loss), 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and four passes defended.
