Football players aren’t just athletes, they’re people with thoughts and opinions, too! They like TV, they watch movies and they have favorite rappers.
Athletes... they’re just like us!
In that spirit, we sat down with Bengals safety and 2018 second round draft pick Jessie Bates III to get to know him beyond the football field.
Here’s some of what we learned from our conversation with Bates!
Favorite TV show: Power
Favorite movie: Southpaw
Favorite food: Steak from Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse
Favorite stadium he played in during college: Florida State (Doak Campbell Stadium) was probably the most fun
Favorite music artist: Drake
Have you ever had Cincinnati chili?: No, I haven’t. I’m willing to try it, I’m willing to try a lot of things in Cincinnati.
What team are you most excited to face in the NFL?: The Steelers just because they’ve always been a powerhouse and are a rival. Rivalry games are the best games to play in and they have a lot of talent, a lot of guys I’ve watched every Sunday for years. Not only recently, but being able to compete against those guys is something I look forward to. But I’m looking forward to every team we play because I’m living my dream and I look forward to making an impact in all of those games.
What’s your biggest fear?: God and losing my mom.
If you could have any super power what would it be?: Being able to read someone’s mind and know what they’re going to do before they do it. I’d have so many interceptions and be the best safety in the league.
