John Ross is on his way to trying to have a huge second season in the NFL, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have time to give back.
Ross will be holding an Athletes vs Celebrities Flag Football Game. All proceeds from the event will go to the John Ross III Foundation. The event will be taking place in Long Beach California in June 30th.
What is really eye catching about this event is the list of celebrities and athletes who will be participating. Some notable names include Bengals running back Joe Mixon. Both Ross and Mixon were drafted by Cincinnati last year.
DeSean Jackson will also be at the event. Both Jackson and Ross are from Long Beach, and they even worked out together before Ross was drafted by the Bengals.
Former Bengals receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh will also be taking part in the event. He has been working out with Ross during the summer to help get the second-year player’s confidence back up.
As far as non-football player participants, Kyle Kuzma plays for Lakers. Ross also got Trey Songz to agree to join. He is by no means a stranger to celebrity games. He has also taken part in the NBA Celebrity game they have during their All-Star break.
The biggest name has to be Snoop Dogg though. It may be a surprising name to hear, but Ross played for Snoop Dogg’s youth football team growing up, and he has clearly become the most successful player from there. Snoop Dogg even shared a very powerful draft day message with Ross after he was drafted.
“This message is for John Ross, John “Pee-Wee” Ross. I remember the day I met you man. You was running through that little parking lot at Compton High School. Just a little kid wanting to play football,” Snoop said.
“I’m so proud of you, love the mission that you’ve been on, love your mom and dad for being a part of your life and for you for doing the right things... You make the Snoop Youth Football league look great every time you step out, every time you do an interview, every time you make a play.”
Ross went on to talk about how he would love to give back, and it looks like now he is fulfilling that promise. Of course he is doing it with the help of coach Snoop. The game is set to be played from 4:30 to 7:30 P.M. PDT, and tickets are $10 to $20.
