We can analyze NFL players with film. We can tell you their stat line. We can even review their game-day attire. (I totally do love the gameday attire Instagram pictures, not going to lie.)
But it takes talking to players to get to know the guy underneath the jersey. What do NFL players like to do in their spare time? What TV shows do they watch? What movies are their favorites?
In that spirit, we’ve been sitting down with the Bengals rookies to get to know them beyond the football field. We’ve shared fun facts on Jessie Bates (check them out here!) and Andrew Brown (get those here!) and today, it’s time to learn more about third round linebacker Malik Jefferson. The former Texas Longhorn has played football in Texas for all of his life, but he’s ready for life in Cincinnati.
Here are some fun facts about Jefferson.
Favorite TV show: Family Guy
Favorite movie: Deadpool
Favorite food: Spaghetti
Favorite stadium played in during college: Cotton Bowl
Favorite music artist: J. Cole
What team are you most excited to face in the NFL? When we come (to my) home and play the Cowboys that’s going to be exciting.
The Bengals play the Cowboys in the preseason in Dallas.
Which quarterback are you most looking forward to facing? Getting to see Baker Mayfield again and Big Ben, going against him and their dynamic offense.
Jefferson’s Longhorns faced Mayfield on an annual basis in the Red River showdown. Mayfield led Oklahoma to victories in each of the last two years but Texas did win the matchup in Jefferson’s freshman year.
Who was your favorite NFL player growing up? Growing up I didn’t have a favorite player, I kind of just watched the game and was more a student of the game than a fan of the game.
What’s your biggest fear? Something happening to my family.
If you could have any super power what would it be? Speed
What’s the largest animal you’d be willing to try to tackle? A giraffe
