Adam Jones is making headlines for the wrong reasons again, though this time it doesn’t appear to have been his fault.

According to TMZ, the former Bengals cornerback was violently attacked at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Tuesday night.

Jones had touched down at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on Tuesday evening when cops say ABM employee Frank Ragin ”made a gesture towards Adam Jones.”

Officials tell TMZ Sports ... Pacman confronted the man about the gesture and a verbal altercation broke out.

“Mr. Ragin eventually struck Mr. Jones with a closed fist causing a laceration to Mr. Jones’ face,” cops told TMZ. “Mr. Jones then started to defend himself, causing Mr. Ragin to fall to the ground.”

Jones was with a woman at the time who was also hit and injured during the altercation, though Jones and the woman did not seek medical treatment. Ragin was said to be the primary aggressor and was arrested for two counts of battery.

Jones is currently a free agent, though he’s said he expects to play this season. The Bengals declined the option on his former contract, sending him to free agency in March. There hasn’t been any reported interest about a team wanting to sign Jones since then.

Update (11:15 a.m. ET): TMZ has acquired video of the altercation.
