The Bengals have added Christian Westerman back onto the roster after a brief stint on the Active/Non-Football Illness list.
NEWS: G Christian Westerman passed his physical and is expected to return to practice.

He was previously on the Active/Non-Football Illness list.
Westerman had food poisoning in recent days and lost more than 10 pounds as a result. He spent the first two days of training camp on the NFI list while getting healthy. He wasn’t on the field for the first day of practice at all, but spent the second day on the rehab field.
It’s great that Westerman is back on the active roster because he’ll be competing to start at right guard. Trey Hopkins and Alex Redmond are also fighting for the job and now have a bit of a head start. With that said, Saturday is the first day of practice where the players will be wearing pads. So, he hasn’t really missed that much.
I’d expect that Westerman will be limited today as he hits the field for the first time since minicamp and gets back to full speed. That’s especially true since the team will be wearing pads today for the first time since the 2017 season concluded. Westerman should be fully back into the swing of things soon enough.
