Vontaze Burfict was carted off the field during the Bengals’ Monday afternoon practice.

It’s no secret that Burfict is a very tough player who can walk off minor injuries, so this is now something to monitor.
The Bengals are holding their breath after Vontaze Burfict suffered some sort of lower-leg injury during Monday’s practice.
Vontaze Burfict appears to have tweaked his right ankle/leg. It’s propped up and he’s icing it now. I think it happened when he was guarding moritz boehringer in 11-on-11. Both players went to the ground and the ball was incomplete #Bengals— James Rapien (@JamesRapien) August 13, 2018

Burfict was apparently guarding tight end Moritz Boehringer during a pass play and came down in some pain.
It is worth noting that if he’s just icing down and still present at practice, then it’s probably nothing major. Had it been significant, Burfict would have likely gone straight to the locker room for further examinations.
Burfict has already missed a good portion of training camp while battling a tight hamstring. He didn’t play in the preseason opener, though he was healthy enough to go. The Bengals have been bringing him along slowly, partly due to the hamstring issue, but also because they want to get other linebackers as many reps of possible to help prepare them, as they’ll have to replace Burfict while he serves a four-game suspension to open the regular season.
We’ll update this story as more details come out.
