We’re now under a week until the Cincinnati Bengals trim their roster down to 53 players.
Throughout this week, the Bengals will be handing out pink slips as they cut around 30 players to get down to just 53 men. The deadline to do so will Saturday, Sept. 1 when all 32 teams must have their 53-man roster ready by 4:00 p.m. ET.
Some players will get traded for draft picks or placed on injured reserve, which also will help free up roster spots. But the reality is a lot of players are going to have their NFL dreams put on hold this week as they are told they have been released.
After the 53-man roster is formed on Saturday, teams can begin constructing their 10-man practice squads, which should be announced Sunday afternoon or Monday morning.
Practice squad players in 2018 can earn a minimum of $7,600 per week during the regular season and postseason, per the current CBA, but there is no cap on the amount practice squad players can receive.
