What a day in Cincinnati.
On Tuesday, the Bengals signed both All-Pro defensive tackle Geno Atkins and Pro Bowl defensive end Carlos Dunlap to contract extensions. Atkins is now locked up in Cincinnati through 2022 while Dunlap will remain through at least 2021.
Atkins, who is heading into his 10th NFL season, appeared in all 16 games in 2017 and finished with 46 total tackles, nine sacks, and was ranked second among interior defensive lineman by Pro Football Focus (accounts for 4-3 and 3-4 defensive tackles).
Entering his ninth NFL season, Dunlap has 64.5 career sacks, 244 tackles, 42 pass deflections and 16 forced fumbles. In 2017, Dunlap recorded 7.5 sacks, 46 total tackles, seven pass deflections and an interception returned for a game-winning touchdown against the Colts.
This is great news for the Bengals defense!
