The Bengals couldn’t make it through one quarter without a key player being injured against the Bears.
Linebacker Vincent Rey suffered what appeared to be a ankle injury during a punt return midway through the first quarter. He was down after the play and had to be helped off the field to be examined on the sideline.
UPDATE: Marvin Lewis says Rey has a sprained ankle. He’ll likely be evaluated further tomorrow.
Marvin says Rey has sprained ankle but hopefully not anything that keeps him out too long.

The team quickly announced Rey suffered an ankle injury and was doubtful to return. That does not necessarily mean it’s a bad injury as much as the team won’t risk further injury in what’s really a meaningless preseason game for the veteran.
Rey has been a mainstay on special teams an the Bengals defense for much of his career. He’s entering his ninth season with the club, and losing him would be a big blow to this defense and special teams.
We will have more on this story if any more details become available.
