Tra Carson is now a free man.
On Friday, the Bengals announced that Carson had been waived from the reserve/injured list with an injury settlement.
Carson was waived/injured on Sept. 19, and he reverted the following day to the team’s reserve/injured list after clearing waivers. By releasing him from this list, Carson is now free to sign with any NFL team, including the Bengals, so a reunion could come at some point.
Carson is in his third year in the league since joining the Bengals following the 2016 NFL Draft as an undrafted free agent from Texas A&M. He spent nearly all of that season on the practice squad, and he then spent all of 2017 on the reserve/injured list.
This year, Carson had a strong training camp and preseason that had his spot on the 53-man roster locked up. He would keep that spot for the first two games, but an injury suffered during practice in Week 3 led to him being waived and placed on the reserve/injured list.
