Key observations
- Alex Redmond will start at right guard with Trey Hopkins backing him up.
- Bobby Hart will start at right tackle.
- Even though Vincent Rey is listed at strongside linebacker, he’s likely the No. 2 backer at all three spots as long as Vontaze Burfict is out.
- Michael Johnson remains a starter despite getting cut and re-signed this weekend.
- Clayton Fejedelem is capable of playing both safety spots, so he’ll probably get in the game a lot more than Brandon Wilson, if Jessie Bates were to get injured.
- Alex Erickson remains as the No. 1 kick and punt returner on the team.
- Jessie Bates will start, as expected, at free safety, making him the first Bengals rookie on defense to start in a Week 1 game since Rey Maualuga in 2009.
- Pretty much everything else is to be expected, including Jordan Evans starting in place of Vontaze Burfict during his suspension. Burfict is not currently on the depth chart.
- This depth chart uses a 4-3 base defense. So while Carl Lawson and Darqueze Dennard aren’t listed as starters, they would be in the nickel defense, which the Bengals will use most often.
