Bengals waive CB Josh Shaw and DT Chris Okoye from IR with injury settlements

Does this mean we could see Shaw back on the 53-man roster?

The Bengals have waived defensive tackle Chris Okoye and defensive back Josh Shaw from the Reserve/Injured list with injury settlements.

Both Okoye and Shaw had been waived/injured as part of the Bengals’ final cuts on Saturday and reverted on Sunday to the team’s Reserve/Injured list after clearing waivers. By waiving them from IR, the Bengals can now sign one or both of them to the 53-man roster if they wish.

Shaw will be the guy to keep an eye on, at least when he’s fully recovered, as he’s been a regular contributor in the Bengals defense as a safety and cornerback. A fourth-year veteran whom the Bengals selected in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Shaw had played in 47 games (14 starts) for the Bengals over the past three seasons.

Okoye, a rookie, had signed with the Bengals as a college free agent out of Ferris State University on May 14. He may be a candidate to sign to the practice squad once he’s healthy.
