Last December, the Bengals went to southern California to play the Los Angeles Chargers. It was the first time they played in Los Angeles in nearly 30 years.

This upcoming season, they were slotted to play in the City of Angels again to face the Los Angeles Rams in LA Memorial Coliseum, just 12 miles north of where the Chargers play. Instead, that game will take place over 5,000 miles away across the Atlantic.

The Bengals will travel to London to face the Rams, making this their second London game in the last four years.

Unlike in 2016 when the Bengals tied the Washington Redskins, this matchup will count as a road game for Cincinnati. They will maintain their eight true home games for the 2019 season. The road team is 12-8-1 all-time in legendary Wembley Stadium, but two of the four games played in London this year will take place at a new stadium being built for Tottenham Hotspur F.C.

The other London games for 2019 have also been announced:

Both of the south divisions are getting divisional matchups, and the Khalil Mack revenge game will also be played overseas as well.

The significance between the Bengals and Rams is obvious as well. The Rams’ current quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor will be announced as the Bengals’ head coach soon after the Rams win or lose the Super Bowl, and their left tackle Andrew Whitworth is also under contract for one more year and will likely be suited up to play his former team for the first time since leaving the Bengals in the 2017 offseason.

The 2019 season is also the last season that the Rams will be playing in the Coliseum, as the Chargers and them will be moving into their new stadium in 2020. The Bengals have not played in the Coliseum since 1990, and unless another team starts playing there, this trip to London means that will be the last time they ever play in the iconic venue.

At the very least, the Bengals will not be scheduled to play in Mexico, so they can avoid another potential stadium disaster like the The Kansas City Chiefs and the Rams dealt with last season. The Chiefs road battle with the Chargers has been chosen for that game this upcoming season.

Will you be making the trip across the pond to see Zac Taylor coach against his former team?
