The Bengals are reportedly making a push to hire Washington offensive line coach Bill Callahan.
However, Callahan is still under contract, which means there’s a chance Washington won’t allow him to leave to take the same job in Cincinnati. At least, that seems to be what general manager Bruce Allen indicated to reporters during Senior Bowl week.
Bruce Allen says Jim Tomsula isn’t under contract but Bill Callahan is under contract and should be back. Jay Gruden is working on the coaching staff.

It will be interesting to see how this situation plays out. The Bengals badly need a good offensive line coach after losing Frank Pollack this offseason. Callahan would be the perfect replacement, as he’s regarded as one of the league’s best at developing lineman.
Bill is also the father of Brian Callahan, who will be the Bengals’ new offensive coordinator. The potential for the father and son to work together may be enticing both of them to come to Cincinnati.
Alas, we likely won’t know for sure until next week when Zac Taylor is named the Bengals’ next head coach.
