The latest odds on who Bengals’ next head coach will be: Who would you want?

This will surprise you.

Oddsmakers are now giving their say on who they ‘think’ could be the Bengals’ next head coach.

BetOnline thinks there’s a good chance the Bengals hire an in-house candidate, and it may end up being who no one even thought was a legitimate candidate.

On who the Bengals’ next head coach will be, here is who BetOnline has in the running:

  • Bill Lazor 2/1
  • Hue Jackson 5/2
  • Darrin Simmons 3/1
  • Eric Bieniemy 5/1
  • Vance Joseph 7/1
  • Zac Taylor 15/2
  • Boomer Esiason 100/1

Yes, they think embattled offensive coordinator Bill Lazor has the best odds to become the next head coach. The next-best odds feature assistant coach Hue Jackson and special teams coordinator Darrin Simmons.

Lazor has done very little to think he should remain the team’s offensive coordinator, let alone become a head coach. But this is Mike Brown we’re talking about in making the hire, so perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised at any in-house hire he could make.

Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy has the best odds of any coach outside the organization to get the job. Vance Joseph has the next-best odds, though he’s more of an in-house candidate since he was here recently.

Even NFL analyst and former Bengals great Boomer Esiason made this list. Why, I have no clue, but hey, you never know. As low as Bengals fans are on Jackson, Lazor and Joseph, I’m sure there are some who’d rather see Boomer coaching the Bengals.

All in all, this is the latest sign that the Bengals are trending toward an in-house hire, but even that is a guessing game at this point.
