Bengals activate Darqueze Dennard

Dennard opened the season on PUP.

Cincinnati Bengals v Cleveland Browns

The Cincinnati Bengals have activated cornerback Darqueze Dennard off of the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Dennard joins the vacant 53-man roster spot left by offensive tackle Cordy Glenn, who has been suspended for Sunday’s game vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars and will not count toward the 53-man roster.

A sixth-year player in 2019, Dennard had spent Games 1-6 on PUP before returning to practice on Wednesday on a roster exemption. He was recovering from offseason knee surgery, which also kept him sidelined for all of training camp and the preseason.

Dennard was originally was a first-round pick of the Bengals in 2014 by way of the Michigan State Spartans. He has played in 68 career games (19 starts), and has 214 tackles, three interceptions, three sacks, 17 pass defenses, two forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

This is a much-needed addition for the Bengals, who will be without starting cornerbacks Dre Kirkpatrick and William Jackson III for several weeks due to injuries.
