Zac Taylor announced in his Monday press conference that they will go back to starting Andy Dalton this week against the Jets and likely for the remainder of the 2019 season.
Ryan Finley has started the last three games, but the Bengals have remained winless with their fourth-round pick under center and Dalton watching from the sidelines.
When Dalton was benched, the move was met with a lot of criticism, but Finley did not do much to disprove the naysayers. In three games, Finley completed 47.1 percent of his passes with two touchdowns, two interceptions, and a rating of 62.1. He was also sacked 11 times, and fumbled four times.
Dalton, on the other hand, passed for 2252 yards in eight games, and was fourth in the league in yardage before he was benched. He passed for nine touchdowns, rushed for three, and threw eight interceptions with a passer rating of 79.2.
At the time of Dalton’s benching, most fans disagreed with the move. Not only was Dalton a positive for the team, he was just about the only one. That proved correct when the Bengals average points per game dropped from 15.5 to 11 under Finley.
The important thing is that both quarterbacks combined for a franchise-worst 0-11 start to the season. Taylor is just trying to come up with a win.
What do you think? Will this help them get a win? Do you even want the Bengals to win?
