The Ryan Finley era, however long or short it ends up becoming, begins this week as the Bengals kickoff the second half of their schedule with their second meeting against the Ravens.
This matchup comes at a pivotal time for each team. The Ravens are coming off the statement win of all statement wins after beating the previously unbeaten Patriots and dropping 37 points on them in the process. Now leading the AFC North by a comfortable two games, Baltimore is rising up the NFL ranks behind their electric MVP candidate Lamar Jackson.
Six wins behind them are the Bengals, who are now unofficially competing with themselves more than any division leader. They’ve benched Andy Dalton for Finley, a fourth-round draft pick from this past Spring, to get a look at how the rest of the offense performs with someone different under center.
Finley should have help that Dalton never received this year in the form of A.J. Green and maybe even Cordy Glenn. Perhaps the change at quarterback can spark the rest of the team and the return of key starters only adds to it all. Cincinnati is going to need all the help they can get when the potent Ravens come into Paul Brown Stadium.
